The chemometer derives its name from “thermometer” because it functions in a similar fashion. But unlike a thermometer, the chemometer measures the concentration of chemicals in a water sample instead of temperature. Chemometers are easy to read, quick to use, and inexpensive making them advantageous over traditional water diagnostic tests. Our chemometer technologies are built by novel proprietary chemistry and manufacturing methods. Currently, chemometer tests for pH, copper, iron, zinc, lead, cadmium, and chromium have been developed. Chemometers are currently being used in a broad spectrum of applications, from large scale water remediation projects to personal pool and aquarium testing.



Assessing personal exposure to air pollution has been challenging due to limitations posed by wearable aerosol monitors such as cost, noise, and weight. Enter the ultrasonic personal aerosol sampler (UPAS) developed by Access Sensor Technologies. We have overcome these limitations by creating the UPAS which is a time-integrated filter sampler that utilizes an ultrasonic piezoelectric pump to drive air flow and has a suite of on-board sensors to measure air flow, temperature, pressure, relative humidity, light intensity, and acceleration. All of this data is wirelessly streamed to a phone or computer using the UPAS app. The UPAS increases our ability to understand personal exposure to atmospheric contaminants by reducing the size, weight, and cost of personal air samplers. As a result, both industry and academia have shown great interest in the UPAS system because of how easy it makes workplace sampling, large-scale sampling for epidemiologic studies, and individual sampling for the citizen scientist.



Access Sensor Technologies has developed rapid spot tests for food safety. An mPAD is a miniature Paper Analytical Device that can rapidly detect foodborne pathogens. Food safety is a worldwide problem, yet from a diagnostic standpoint testing has remained expensive and slow. Our mPAD technology changes the game by allowing fast, on-site, accurate detection of common foodborne pathogens. Currently, Access Sensor Technologies has developed tests for listeria, salmonella, and E. coli bacteria. Access Sensor Technologies provides this technology in a compact analysis kit that utilizes low-cost, disposable pathogen detection cards.
